Three Timor Leste Citizens Arrested by the Belu Police on the Indonesian Border
ATAMBUA, (BIDIKDUNIA.COM)-Belu Police officers, East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police arrested three citizens from the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste) who entered Indonesian territory illegally, last Thursday.
Three Timorese citizens who were detained by the police because they were proven to have entered Indonesia without immigration documents were Celina De Jesus Soares (27), Armindo Olamau Dos Santos (50) and a toddler named Armindo Dos Reis Soares (4).
Belu Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police Yosep Krisbiyanto, Bachelor of Police Science explained, the two women and one toddler boy were arrested for the first time by members of the East Tasifeto Police after receiving information from the Belu Police Intelligence Unit, AIPDA LuckyKristanto.During interrogation, said the Head of the Belu Police, Celina De Jesus Soares and Armindo Olamau Dos Santos admitted that they entered Indonesia with the aim of attending a family funeral in Atambua-Belu as well as attending a graduation ceremony in Kupang.
“On Thursday (17/11/2022) at around 09.15 WITA, the East Tasifeto Police Intelligence Unit (Tastim) received information from Kanit Kam that there were two Kijang Pick Up cars from the direction of Raihat District going to Kupang who were transporting East Timorese citizens who without complete official documentBased on this information, the Tastim Police Chief, together with the Intelligence Unit and members of the picket, intercepted the 2 pick-up cars,” explained the Belu Police Chief.
“After being intercepted and carrying out proper checks on the main road in Baulenu Hamlet, Manleten Village, Tastim District, it turned out that there were 3 Timor Leste citizens without official documentsThey claimed to have entered Indonesian territory on Tuesday (11/15/22) through Nunura, Raihat sub-district with the aim of attending a family death ceremony in Raihat as well as attending their nephew’s graduation ceremony in Kupang,” added the Belu Police Chief.
after being secured at the East Tasifeto Police Station, the three East Timorese were picked up by Kanit Kam, AIPDA Lucky Kristanto and members, to then be taken to TPI Atambua class II Immigration.
“That very day, we handed over the three East Timorese citizens to the Immigration Class II TPI Atambua to undergo a process according to the immigration law which was marked by the minutes of handing over of the foreign nationals,” said Belu Police Chief.
“We handed over all three of them safe and sound after going through a re-examination process by the Immigration Service. Hopefully, the concerned persons will be deported back to their country soon and we hope that in the future there will be no more citizens who are determined to cross illegally into usthere is a need, preferably through official channels so that it doesn’t become a problem for himself” concluded the Belu Police Chief
